The Best Trade Ever
Romans 10:9 • I Am Made New in Christ
Welcome, Mighty Warriors. Get ready for today's adventure. In this story, we will visit the Mighty Warrior Kids Club, where something exciting is happening. It's trade day, and all the kids have brought treasures to swap with one another.
What starts as a fun game of trading turns into a powerful lesson about Jesus, who doesn't just fix what is broken. He makes all things new. As you listen and read along, think about what it means that Jesus took our sin and gave us his love, joy, and brand new life in return. Are you ready, Mighty Warriors? Let's jump into the story and see what happens next.
It was trade day at the Mighty Warrior Kids Club, a fun day when everyone brought something small to swap. The tables were full of treasures, shiny marbles, colorful bracelets, cool stickers, and even a mini flashlight that Dylan really wanted.
Ayden traded his comic book for a baseball card. Ari swapped her sketch pencils for glitter markers. Kylie traded a few friendship bracelets for a small new toy she couldn't wait to try later. The room buzzed with laughter and excitement, except for one corner of the clubhouse. A new boy named Brian sat quietly, staring at his table. In front of him was only a worn-out yo-yo with faded paint and a fuzzy, worn-out string. He sighed and said softly, "No one wants to trade with me. Mine is too old." Kylie noticed and walked over.
"Hey, Brian," she said kindly. "That's a yo-yo, right?" "Yeah," he said softly. "It used to work, but now it barely spins." Before she could answer, Mr. Jensen stepped over with a warm smile. "You know," he said, "that reminds me of the greatest trade ever." The kids leaned in. "A trade?" Dylan asked. "Like a real one?"
"Yes," said Mr. Jensen. "Jesus made a trade with us. The best one ever. You see, sin is anything we think, say, or do that goes against God's way. It's like missing the mark. When we try to hit the target of doing right, but we fall short. And sin separates us from God, who is perfect and holy. But here's the good news."
"Jesus came to fix that. He took our sin, sadness, and mistakes, and in return gave us forgiveness, joy, and new life. We didn't do anything to deserve it, but he gave it because he loves us." Ayden's eyes widened. "So he traded his perfection for our mess?" "Exactly."
"And do you know how we receive that trade? The Bible says, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. You can find that in your Bible in the book of Romans, chapter 10, verse 9." Ari raised her hand. "Mr. Jensen, what does confess mean?" He smiled. "That's a great question, Ari. To confess means to say something out loud and truly believe it in your heart. It's not just saying the words. It's agreeing with God that Jesus is Lord and choosing to follow him. When we confess that Jesus is Lord, we are telling everyone that we believe in Him, trust
Him, and want to live for Him. And when we do that, the Bible says He makes us brand new inside. You know, Brian, that yo-yo may be old and worn out. You could try to fix it, but it would never really be the same. That's what makes Jesus different. When we give Him our old, broken hearts, He doesn't just repair them. He gives us a completely new one. The old life is gone, and the new life begins." Kylie looked down at the small new toy she had traded for earlier. Then she smiled and said, "Brian, I'll trade you your yo-yo for this toy." Brian's eyes widened. "Really? But my yo-yo is old." "That's okay," Kylie said. "It's a reminder that Jesus didn't fix me. He made me new,
and he can do the same for you." Brian carefully handed her the yo-yo, his grin spreading from ear to ear. "Wow," he said softly. "That really is the best trade ever."
Remember, mighty warriors, when we believe in Jesus, he takes away our old life and gives us a completely new one filled with his love, peace, and joy. Jesus doesn't just fix what's broken. He makes us brand new. And that is the best trade ever.
