Welcome, Mighty Warriors. Get ready for today’s adventure. In this story, we will visit the Mighty Warrior Kids Club, where something exciting is happening. It is trade day, and all the kids have brought treasures to swap with one another. What starts as a fun game of trading turns into a powerful lesson about Jesus, who does not just fix what is broken. He makes all things new.
As you listen and read along, think about what it means that Jesus took our sin and gave us His love, joy, and brand new life in return. Are you ready, Mighty Warriors? Let us jump into the story and see what happens.
It was trade day at the Mighty Warrior Kids Club, a fun day when everyone brought something small to swap. The tables were full of treasures, shiny marbles, colorful bracelets, cool stickers, and even a mini flashlight that Dylan really wanted.
Max traded his comic book for a baseball card. Ari swapped her sketch pencils for glitter markers. Kylie traded a few friendship bracelets for a small new toy she could not wait to try later.
The room buzzed with laughter and excitement, except for one corner of the clubhouse. A new boy named Ayden sat quietly, staring at his table. In front of him was only a worn-out yo-yo with faded paint and a fuzzy worn-out string.
He sighed and said softly, “No one wants to trade with me. Mine is too old.” Kylie noticed and walked over. “Hey, Ayden,” she said kindly. “That is a yo-yo, right?”
“Yeah,” he said softly. “It used to work, but now it barely spins.” Before she could answer, Mr. Jensen stepped over with a warm smile. “You know,” he said, “that reminds me of the greatest trade ever.”
The kids leaned in. “A trade?” Dylan asked. “Like a real one?” “Yes,” said Mr. Jensen. “Jesus made a trade with us. The best one ever. You see, sin is anything we think, say, or do that goes against God’s way.”
“It is like missing the mark. When we try to hit the target of doing right, but we fall short. And sin separates us from God, who is perfect and holy. But here is the good news. Jesus came to fix that. He took our sin, sadness, and mistakes, and in return gave us forgiveness, joy, and new life.”
“We did not do anything to deserve it, but He gave it because He loves us.” Max’s eyes widened. “So He traded His perfection for our mess?” “Exactly. And do you know how we receive that trade? The Bible says if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. You can find that in your Bible in the book of Romans chapter 10, verse 9.” Ari raised her hand. “Mr. Jensen, what does confess mean?” He smiled. “That is a great question, Ari. To confess means to say something out loud and truly believe it in your heart. It is not just saying the words. It is agreeing with God that Jesus is Lord and choosing to follow Him. When we confess that Jesus is Lord, we are telling everyone that we believe in Him, trust Him, and want to live for Him.”
“And when we do that, the Bible says He makes us brand new inside. You know, Ayden, that yo-yo may be old and worn out. You could try to fix it, but it would never really be the same.”
“That is what makes Jesus different. When we give Him our old, broken hearts, He does not just repair them. He gives us a completely new one. The old life is gone and the new life begins.”
Kylie looked down at the small new toy she had traded for earlier. Then she smiled and said, “Ayden, I will trade you your yo-yo for this toy.” Ayden’s eyes widened. “Really?”
“But my yo-yo is old.” “That is okay,” Kylie said. “It is a reminder that Jesus did not fix me. He made me new, and He can do the same for you.” Ayden carefully handed her the yo-yo, his grin spreading from ear to ear.
“Wow,” he said softly, “that really is the best trade ever. Remember, mighty warriors, when we believe in Jesus, He takes away our old life and gives us a completely new one filled with His love, peace, and joy.”
Jesus does not just fix what is broken, He makes us brand new. And that is the best trade ever. As the kids packed up their treasures, Ayden held the new toy Kylie had traded him. He turned it over in his hands slowly, thinking about everything Mr. Jensen had said. The toy was brand new, but inside, Ayden felt a question rising.
“Why would Jesus give up so much? For me.”

Made New Activity — “New Heart Reveal”
A simple hands on activity that helps kids see and feel “The Best Trade Ever.” You can play the song The Best Trade Ever in the background.
- Two paper hearts, or draw two heart shapes
- Crayons or markers
- Stickers or colorful tissue paper, optional
- Tape or glue
- Read Romans 10:9 together.
- Say: “Today we are going to make something that shows how Jesus gives us a brand new heart.”
- Have your child write Old Heart on the first heart.
- Let them cover it with dark scribbles or words like “sin,” “sad,” or “afraid.”
- Explain that this shows what our heart looks like before Jesus.
- On the second heart, have your child write New Heart.
- Let them decorate it with bright colors, stickers or tissue paper.
- Say things like: “Jesus fills us with joy. He gives us peace. He makes us clean and brand new.”
- Place the “New Heart” directly on top of the “Old Heart.”
- Tape or glue only along the top edge so it lifts like a flap.
- Now they can lift the New Heart to reveal the Old Heart underneath.
- Lift the flap together and say: “Jesus does not just fix our old heart. He gives us a completely new one. That is the best trade ever.”
- Pray: “Jesus, thank You for taking our old heart and giving us a brand new one. Help us live for You every day. Amen.”
Family Fun Activity — “Old Me → NEW ME Freeze Dance”
A quick game you can play all week. Kids feel the difference between the “old me” and the “new me in Jesus” and learn Romans 10:9 as they go.
- The song The Best Trade Ever or another upbeat worship song
- Speaker or phone for music
- Parent is the DJ.
- Kids stand in the middle of the room ready to dance.
- Start the music.
- Say in a sad voice, “Old me.”
- Everyone dances slowly with slumped shoulders and sad faces.
- Shout with joy, “New me in Jesus.”
- Everyone switches to happy, big, energetic dancing.
- Jump, spin and smile as big as you can.
- Pause the music and call out, “The Best Trade Ever.”
- Everyone freezes in a superhero pose.
- Choose one child to say the memory verse or the next phrase: “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
- Cheer: “That is right. Jesus made the best trade ever.”
- Press play and repeat the game five to eight times.
- Let it get a little sillier each round.
Many kids will ask for this game every night. They learn the verse almost without trying and feel what it means to be made new in Jesus.
Heart Moment — “The Great Heart Swap”
A five minute heart moment that feels like a party. It shows kids that Jesus takes our old heart and gives us a brand new one.
- Two paper hearts for each child: one dark or red heart with a frowny face, one bright gold or white heart with a smile and the words “Made New”
- A laundry basket or bag labeled Cross
- The song The Best Trade Ever or another upbeat worship song
- Stand or sit in a circle.
- Parent says in a quiet voice, “Jesus is about to make the greatest swap in history with you right now.”
- Everyone holds the dark heart up.
- Ask, “What is one thing on your old heart you want Jesus to take.”
- Kids answer with things like being mean, scared, or sad.
- Start the music.
- Say, “On your mark, get set, give it to Jesus.”
- Everyone runs to the Cross basket and throws the old heart in.
- They shout together, “Jesus, I give You my sin and my old heart.”
- Everyone grabs the bright heart.
- Parent says, “Jesus took your sin on the cross and rose again. Now He gives you His brand new heart.”
- Kids hold the new heart over their chest and jump while shouting, “I am forgiven. I am free. I am made new.”
- Pause the music.
- Invite one child to say Romans 10:9, or the first part.
- Everyone says together, “Thank You, Jesus, for the best trade ever.”
- Finish with a family hug, high fives or a big victory jump.
- Take a “before and after” photo: sad face holding the old heart, then a big smile holding the new heart.
